Private investor, generalist, and engineer of durable systems.

Building around the globe

Practice

  • 01Private investor
  • 02Software engineer & systems builder
  • 03Independent researcher, analyst & advisor

A generalist by training — moving between markets, software, and research, and joining what is usually kept apart.

Time

Every calendar is a decision, not a fact. The Church set one; revolutionary France legislated its own and then abandoned it; most of the modern world keeps Gregorian time by convention. Yet the Gregorian, the Hijri, the Hebrew, and the lunisolar farmer's year all run at once — and a date in one is rarely a date in another. To hold several at the same time, and convert between them in an instant, is not pedantry; it is precision.

Every date is a translation.

My software Fasti

Holds many calendars at once, and converts between them in an instant.
No date is innocent. No calendar is neutral.

Space

Nationality, residence, domicile — these are administrative categories laid over a simpler fact: where a body has actually been, and when. Suijuris takes that record of movement seriously and lets it speak for itself. Two old ideas and one modern lens:

  • Diogenes, asked where he was from, called himself kosmopolitēs — a citizen of the cosmos.
  • Zhuangzi's 逍遙遊 — the free wanderer, at home everywhere and nowhere.
  • Minkowski's worldline — every body is one continuous trace through spacetime. Suijuris draws yours, from the record of where you have been.

Turns a travel record into one continuous path across the world.
A life, mapped.

Writing

I write to think, and to live.

Poems·Essays·Travel journals

On the back of my first business card, in college, it read:

Life is poetry.

Sports

Endurance is a sport.

  • Over 10,000 km — solo, by bicycle, across East and Southeast Asia: the Yunnan–Tibet road before the asphalt, the off-grid mountains of northern Laos, and the back roads of the Cambodia–Thailand border.
  • Over 10,000 km — solo, on foot, exploring hundreds of cities around the globe over the years, often twenty kilometers in a day.
  • Drove coast to coast, New York to Santa Monica — the final leg down Route 66.
  • Raced motorbikes in Bangkok.
